Because of Brad’s extensive background in Airport Management, his diagnosis of Parkinson’s Disease, and his love of traveling, Brad Penrod and his wife, Karen, will be presenting Air Travel with Parkinson’s Disease.
Brad Penrod started his 34-year airport management career in Pittsburgh as a college intern while studying at Embry Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, Florida, before obtaining his Masters degree from Duquesne University. Brad served on the FAA's Tarmac Delay Task Force, which focused on flight delays and the impact of delays on passengers with disabilities. He oversaw airport activities for two disabled veteran Olympians, and served for 8 years as the CEO Executive Director of the Allegheny County Airport Authority, responsible for both Pittsburgh International and the Allegheny County Airports. Previously, he held the position of Chief Operating Officer for the Authority for 8 years. Brad was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease in March of 2015.
Karen Penrod, RN, BSN has over thirty years of nursing experience including various inpatient and outpatient areas. She is currently an adjunct faculty member in a Nursing program at a Pittsburgh area technical college.
Since Brad’s diagnosis in 2015, Karen and Brad have traveled to Hawaii, Key West, Ponda Vedra, Alaska, New York City, San Francisco, Boston, Montana, the Canadian Maritime Islands and Tulsa.
