WEBINAR INFORMATION
DATE: Tuesday, December 7, 2021
TIME: 12:00PM - 1:00PM EST
LOCATION: Virtual Via Zoom
EVENT INFO: "Resilience: What is it, and why does it matter?" Literature clearly articulates the health-giving role of resilience for all people, but it is especially important for people who have encountered challenges and trauma in life, and PD certainly fits within this category. In the webinar, Dr. McDaniels will discuss the positive psychology construct of resilience and the role that it plays in the lives of people with PD and their care partners. Dr. McDaniels will present the evidence supporting the value of resilience and the ways it can be fostered. The hope is that you leave this presentation with a clearer understanding of the value of resilience and with practical tips to become a more resilient person.
ABOUT OUR PRESENTERS
Bradley McDaniels, PhD, CRC, is an Assistant Professor and coordinator of the Rehabilitation Studies program in the Department of Rehabilitation and Health Services at the University of North Texas. Prior to joining UNT, he earned his PhD from the University of Kentucky in Rehabilitation Counseling and subsequently accepted an Advanced Rehabilitation Research and Training Post-Doctoral Fellowship appointment, with a focus on Parkinson’s disease, in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Virginia Commonwealth University. Dr. McDaniels has been personally affected by Parkinson’s disease as his mother was diagnosed nearly 9-years ago, which was the impetus for his return to graduate school and current research activities. Dr. McDaniels’ research interests include positive psychology, psychosocial adaptation, quality of life, meaning in life, and apathy in people with Parkinson’s disease.
